Carlos Melia: FORTIN Leather and Polo Boots

FORTIN Leather and Polo Boots store Mar del Plata • if Bangkok is the best place for suits, and Buenos Aires for Leather Jackets…. Mar del Plata is the one when it comes to Leather Shoes and Polo Boots. FORTIN Leather is THE place to buy the most amazing Argentinean leather hand crafted boots made using the old traditional techniques. But also, is a MUST SEE and DO spot of Mar del Plata to learn and watch their artisans work and make wonders with this sexy and chic material.

Enrique, my guide, took me through the process of creating a POLO Boot. It is quite and exciting experience to see how their artisans work and the time and effort they put into crafting this pieces that in a way I would also call Rural ART.

If you are visiting MDQ – Mar del Plata – and you wish to get your own boots or shoes done, they will get them ready from the scratch just in a few days. International and Regional shipping available upon request.

Fortin Mar del Plata ( click here ) has crafted leather garments for international and local celebrities worldwide, among those are Felipe Junot, Catherine Denueve, Chelsea Clinton among many others…. (see a short list handed to me in by one of the artisans)…

The whole process of creating a POLO Boot takes not less than over 10 steps and 10 days. The start choosing and cutting the leather piece by piece, sewing them together… and from there till the end. All hand made by this great artist that have made this their way of life and passion.

Are you into LEATHER… ? If yes then Fortin Cueros, one of the many reason to visit MAR DEL PLATA. Crafting leather garments and boots since 1944.

To RIM, or Not to RIM… “Don’t Do It”

Canadian smartphone maker RIM (Research In Motion) is facing pressure from some repressive (religious) regimes (India, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Lebanon) to grant these governments access to encrypted Blackberry data.

They want access to any/all data on any handheld in/passing through their jurisdictions.  Reuters reports here.

This story was mentioned a few days back, dealing only with Gulf states, and I was mildly amused that it was the UAE requesting the access, despite their attempts to present themselves as a progressive haven of international business.  This veneer of tolerance is thin and of low quality.  The cracks are spreading quickly throughout the Gulf states.

Now, it’s clear that these regimes believe they are entitled to full access of private data.  Private data belonging to both their citizens and visiting business travellers.

Enough is enough.

RIM: Take the hit on your stock prices.  Stand up.  Say “No.”

These are not tolerant nations.  Early reports cited that their eavesdropping was intended to detect morally objectionable material.  Morally objectionable.  Since I’m writing for a GLBTI site, I feel compelled to point out: I have a feeling a bookmark to a site like ours would be “morally objectionable.”

Literally today I was smartphone shopping.  Despite antenna problems, the iPhone 4 looks very attractive.  The Blackberry Torch (announced yesterday) is very attractive.

An issue like this might be the deciding factor for a quasi-activist shopper like myself.

Breaking: Huffington Post Nearly Makes Me Pee Pants

In celebration of the victory over Prop-8, The Huffington Post has a slideshow of anti-gay protesters getting “owned.”

(It’s mainly Fred Phelps and his loving gang from Westboro Baptist Church)

Classic.

Congratulations California: Bye-Bye Prop-8!

The blogosphere is ablaze with stories, opinions, right-wing fallout.

Congratulations, Californians!
