Well I’ve been waiting for months, and last night, I finally got to see this film.
I have to say I was blown away by the trailer alone when I had first seen it:
The film lives up to the trailer and exceeded my high expectations. The stories captured here are very effective and heartfelt. I can’t say that I’ve seen too many documentaries with the same ups-and-downs that I experienced watching this. The collection of anti-gay commercials that are shown are very powerful and upsetting.
I came away from the film with stronger feelings about the tax-free status of churches (both in the USA and here in Canada), bigger concerns about religion in general, and an overall feeling of violation.
The GLBT citizens of California are the victims of con-job. A con-job perpetrated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
If you know the name: Francois Sagat – you will recognize the zombie.
From the trailer, F.Sagat may be wearing more clothes than we’re used to…. and it’s not welcome at the Melbourne Film Festival this week. Looks like they don’t know what they’ll be missing.
